Hong Kong Island Public Discussion Session

In the evening of 21 November, we held a public discussion session at Leighton Hill Community Hall in Happy Valley to consult the views of the public. About 50 members of the public participated in the session and many of them expressed their views actively. Some of the views indicated the speakers had good understanding of the legislative framework and overseas practices which are useful to the review of the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance.

 

New Territories Public Discussion Session

The second public discussion session was conducted in the evening of 8 December at Sha Tin Town Hall. About 80 members of the public attended the session. The public spoke up actively, and among them, there were a number of parents.

 

Kowloon Region Public Discussion Session

We conducted the Kowloon Region Public Discussion Session in Tsim Sha Tsui Space Museum in the evening of 16 January. It was well attended, with all 193 seats completely filled. Of those who gave their comments, many opined that indecent articles had harmful effects on youngsters and the Government should strengthen enforcement in this regard. On the other hand, some were of the view that the Government should mainly encourage parents to educate their children.
